VIP Advisor (Full-Time) KeyResponsibilities Veteran Services Provide support services to Veterans to ensure they obtain access to services and supports in order to live independently in the community, increase self-advocacy skills and improve quality of life. Conduct required requisite check in’s and in-person home visits and intakes per Use the Activities of Daily Living Assessment to determine veterans’ functional needs. Facilitate the development, implementation, and documentation of a consumer-directed support plan and spending plan. Provide information and referrals to help veterans find needed services and support. Assist veterans with hiring/training/supervising/terminating employees and completing employer/employee paperwork. Work with the system utilized to help the veteran review, approve, and submit timesheets. Help the veteran evaluate how well VIP is working. Keep the local VA Medical Center informed about the veteran’s status, in conjunction with the supervisor. Gain an understanding of Independent Living Philosophy and Connection’s mission, vision, and programs to be able to uphold and communicate them to consumers and community organizations. Demonstrate a high level of ethics, integrity, and professionalism. Have a working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Rehabilitation Act, and the Fair Housing Act. Maintain strict confidentiality and work within the confines of HIPAA regulations. Connections staff members are considered mandatory reporters who are obligated to report signs of abuse.. Accept responsibility for personal and professional development and explore opportunities for position-related training. Travel up to 20-30% as needed for direct services, meetings, and training. Community Involvement Represent Connections and act as a liaison between the disability community and other agencies serving people with disabilities to ensure coordination and comprehensive services to the consumer. Present to the community when appropriate about the Veterans program.. Operations Maintain timely, complete, and accurate database documentation. General assistance with agency operations. Work in conjunction with the supervisor to monitor billing to ensure expenditures are within budget. Work in conjunction with the supervisor and accounting associate to ensure all assessment fees and monthly admin fees are collected. Attend and participate in Connections staff meetings and staff training. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills Work independently and exercise discretion and independent judgment regarding the delivery of services and advocacy on behalf of individuals with disabilities. Excellent adaptive and evolving technology and software skills, including skills with client databases Cumulus, Microsoft, Google Workspace, MiCIL, and other software as needed. IBM platform computer and Internet experience required. Communicate effectively, internally and externally, orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with consumers, co-workers, the public, and service providers. Be able to pass a background screening. Reliable transportation and ability to travel within our service region as well as statewide as necessary. Mileage reimbursement provided. We offer PTO benefits as well as health and retirement benefits. The salary range is Location: 1331 8th Avenue, Greeley, Colorado 80631. Compensation: This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week. Hourly pay rate is $20-$22. The benefits package includes PTO, healthcare reimbursement, a retirement match, and a generous holiday schedule. Work hours to be arranged during standard Monday through Friday business hours between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Connections is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Principals only, please. Connections for Independent Living is the nonprofit Independent Living Center for northeastern Colorado, serving people with disabilities throughout seven counties.
The Veteran Independence Program (VIP) Advisor assists veterans assigned to the program through the Veterans Administration with managing a budget, deciding what services best meet their needs, hiring personal care workers, and purchasing items or services in order to live independently in the community. The VIP Advisor ensures coordination, integration, and effective delivery of these supports and services to veterans. The VIP Advisor also creates support plans and spending plans, monitors services and assists with problem-solving for veterans at the direction of the veteran or their representative. The position also ensures that the veteran and/or their representative are the ones directing the services. This person will be responsible for positive and effective relationships with Connections staff and partner agencies.
The successful candidate must have excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail. They must meet deadlines and have good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to multitask and adapt to many communication styles. Bilingual candidates are given preference. A sense of levity and humor is most appreciated. People who live with disabilities are always the most preferred applicants.
$20-22/hour, depending upon experience.
